  • Strategy and governance – value drivers for innovative leadership
    This category addresses the big picture of sustainable business practices. It identifies the value drivers and the success stories of companies that have used sustainability, or elements of it, to position themselves in their marketplace. Issues covered may include succession planning, anti-bribery, corruption, development of business principles or mission/vision/values.
  • Workplace – from ethics to ongoing learning
    The purpose of this category is to showcase the demonstration of strongly responsible people-focused successes in the workplace.
  • Marketplace – the value-chain interface
    The marketplace category is targeted at understanding aspects of innovative sustainable business practice connected to goods and services provided to customers, up and down the value chain.
  • Environment – from resource use to closed loop systems
    The environment category is concerned with use of resources at all stages of the life cycle, including raw materials, transformation of materials and concepts of waste.
  • Community – confirming the licence to operate
    This category ranges from cause-related marketing through to support of external organisations that help management address material issues and impacts.
  • Overall winner award – small, medium, large companies
    Those companies submitting entries for all five categories are put forward to the overall winner category, in which awards are given, depending on company size;
    • Small (0-20 employees)
    • Medium (20-100 employees)
    • Large (100+ employees)
    • Public Sector (In 2010 a new public sector exemplar category has been introduced)
