Massey University

Massey University is proud to be a sponsor of the Fairfax Media and PricewaterhouseCoopers Sustainable 60. As a university with relevant expertise in science, business and social science, it has an important role to play in developing a sustainable future.
The University is leading sustainability research in New Zealand, and earlier this year its Manawatu campus became the home of a new Life Cycle Assessment Centre focused on managing New Zealand's environmental footprint - from greenhouse gas emissions to water use. The university is also home to the New Zealand Centre for Small and Medium Enterprise, which recently released research on sustainability practices in these size businesses.
Massey also has initiatives underway itself to address the University's own sustainability practices. Across its campuses it is implementing a Massey Programme of Sustainability, taking steps to significantly reduce its carbon footprint, and further integrating sustainability issues into its research and teaching programme.

The Three P's - People, Profit and Planet
Research has revealed that while there are plenty of SMEs with excellent if small-scale examples of sustainable business practices, because they are not labelled as such they go largely unrecognised. This is one of the findings of the research undertaken by the New Zealand Centre for Small and Medium Enterprise Research at Massey University into sustainable business practices.
